A new one will soon be opening on Broad Street downtown, and since I will be a GSU student, you bet I'll be going there for lunch some days. I've only tried two things there so far - the Teriyaki Veggie bowl and the Tofu Panang. The Panang is hands down my favorite and I am craving some coconutty-goodness right now. Mmm.
But everything else was great, and the restaurant has a cute, cozy feel. Love it! We'll be heading back to try the Sweet Potato Waffle soon.

I'm thrilled H&M is in Atlanta. Finally! But I do hope the crowds die down. I took the mister recently, his first-ever time inside this store I kept gushing about, and I was a bit disappointed to discover how tiny the men's section is... especially compared to the kid's section, which is larger. (I did get some adorable clothes for my friend's August arrival, though!! And my co-worker found an awesome little shirt for her toddler.)
But yeah... if rural Massachusetts has practically a whole floor at their H&M devoted to men's clothing, I'm not sure why Atlanta doesn't.
I still give it 4 stars, though, because I'm selfish. And I found lots and lots of awesome clothes there without breaking the bank. I didn't have to wait in line for the dressing room, either. (Monday morning, people! Go on Monday!)

Paolo's Gelato Italiano & Desserts

It's tiny inside, but we were able to grab two stools and watch the rain outside. Due to lack of parking around VA-Highlands, you might want to skip this place on a rainy day. Unless you have a great umbrella or don't mind getting wet. Or if your gelato craving has possessed your otherwise rational mind and it must be satiated.
On the way there, we ran into Eric S. and his lovely Laura, gelato in hand. I tried to get Mark to distract them while I stole a bite, but it didn't work.
We ordered the hazelnut and coconut. Both were yum! I prefer the hazelnut, though. But that's cuz I loooove hazelnut more than most flavors. And Mark T. learned that a hazelnut is actually a nut. Why he didn't know this already, I cannot say. But all in all, it was a very useful, fun, and delicious outing. We'll be back!

They don't have a huge beer selection, but they do have cheap beer. And sometimes you just want a Corona or a big pitcher of PBR. And a taco. Or burrito.
Bonus: Large windows good for crazy L5P people-watching!

Breukelen Mojo Coffeehouse

I was doubtful. But, as sometimes happens, Mark was right. Across from a baseball field in Kirkwood lies Breukelen Mojo. They have Jones Soda! They have vegan goodies! They have affordable art on the walls! They have free WiFi! And they play good music! (Oh, yeah, they have coffee and espresso bevs, too. Duh.)
I was surprised to discover this place. But I'm glad we did! A mother-daughter duo own and run this coffee house and we met the daughter. They have all sorts of events going on - from movies on Thursday nights to concerts to cookouts.
This is what an independent coffee shop should be. A place for people to gather and feel the heartbeat of their community. With grad school looming, and endless hours of studying in my future, Breukelen Mojo might well become my second home.

When I saw the sign in the window saying they had beignets, I told Mark we needed to head there for breakfast sometime soon. And that's when I discovered that Mark had never tried a beignet! So then we definitely had to go, and this morning we made it happen.
I'm happy to report that the beignets are awesome! Fluffy and light and dusted with just the right amount of powdered sugar (if you order the sweet ones). They also have Parmesan and Herb beignets, but that didn't sound as good to us. And the $5 for 6 beignets deal made us happy, too.
We opted to sit on the patio and enjoy the Sunday morning weather, although the inside looked cute with its ceiling covered in little Christmas lights. We also shared a crepe with tomatoes and cheese. It was good, too, but the beignets were my fave. I didn't like the chocolate sauce with it, which was just a cup of cold Hershey's syrup, but I don't really need chocolate with my beignets anyhow.
So- I give it 4 stars for a great breakfast spot. Can't vouch for lunch or dinner, but if you like beignets, this place is awesome!

Shakespeare Tavern
Categories: Performing Arts, Bars, Restaurants
Neighborhood: Downtown
First of all, they don't only do Shakespeare plays. The mister, some friends, and I just saw Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead this weekend, and it was awesome! Okay, so that one might be Shakespeare-based, but they have other performances that are even further away from the Elizabethan era. I promise.
They have wine, beer, cider, dinner, and desserts to please a variety of taste buds and budgets. They have tables to sit at or a balcony to perch in, and truthfully- I prefer the balcony. Great view of the stage, and the cheapest seats in the house at $12.
I always have a great time, every time I go! I recommend the Rainy Day Tomato Soup, too.
Don't park in the lot next to the Tavern- if you park across the street in the Crawford Long lot instead, the price is only $4.00 when you show your ticket stub.

Loved the photo booth, too! I still have my gold tooth and it's making me feel totally badass. Thanks to Deanna J. and Woodfire for hosting such a great event!
